You would like the ability to send a message to someone when they print to help with cost awareness. Print-Limit Pro allows administrators to customize messages to pop-up when a student or administrator prints. The message can be tailored to let them know how much the print job cost, as well as giving them the balance on their account.

Students send jobs to more expensive color printers, even when they don’t need to. Print-Limit Pro can restrict the use of color printers, saving expensive cartridges for print jobs that really need color. You can deny printing in color or force gray scale printing on color printers for certain users/groups.

The school doesn’t know which printers are over utilized and which ones are not used very much. Print-Limit Pro can identify exactly which printers in the school are used and how much they are used. This allows administrators to redirect printing to more efficient or little used printers.

Technical Requirements
Print Limit runs on Windows networks, monitoring printer queues.

Server

• Windows NT 4.0 / 2000 / 2003 / XP (workstation*, professional*, server and advanced server versions all supported)
• At least 20 MB disk space, with more for log archives
• Printers supporting either Postscript, PCL (any version), PCL-GUI, HPGL, PCLXL, ESC/P2, ESC/PAGE or Ricoh RPCS.

Client Workstations (optional)

• Windows 95 / 98 / ME / NT 4.0 / 2000 / XP
• 4 MB disk space
• Windows 95 / 98 / ME machines should log on to a Windows Domain to ensure correct user identification
• Windows XP, Windows 2000 Professional and Windows NT Workstation only allow 10 simultaneous connections (See Microsoft article). Therefore, these operating systems can only be used for print servers when less than 10 users are connecting at one time.
