The Hakko FX888D-23BY is a high quality, cost effective soldering station, designed to provide years of years of use. The kit comes with everything you need to begin working today – just plug it in and go. It includes the iron and its holder, cleaning wire and sponge, a soldering tip, and control station.
Temperature on the FX888D-23BY is easily adjusted with up and down arrows on the control station’s front panel. A digital readout shows exactly what the temperature is, so there is no uncertainty as the iron is applied. The unit also has memory for five temperature presets, to streamline workflow for users. In addition, a ceramic heating element enables the unit to reach temperature quickly, and provides excellent thermal recovery. Your time is better spent soldering, not waiting for the iron to get hot.
Several dozen tip styles are available, enabling use in a variety of applications. This station uses the T18 tip series, containing over 25 compatible models, in many shapes and sizes. Please see the chart below containing pictures and dimensions of available products. Whether you need a wide chisel, or a very fine conical tip, Hakko has something for you. And for users working with SMD components, Hakko also has the
FX-8804 SMD hot tweezers. Don’t let the price fool you – the FX888D-23BY packs a lot of features into a small package.

My personal review of the FX888D-23BY
My name is Pat and I am the sales manager for TechEdu. I personally own an FX888D-23BY and use it constantly. I build a lot of my own guitar equipment, and the FX888D-23BY has never let me down. It has a digital readout on the front and is really easy to use. With the two buttons on the main panel, you can easily navigate to whatever temperature you need, with no guessing as to what the temperature actually is. And even better, the iron heats up quickly. I work mostly with through-hole components and solder at around 700 to 750 degrees. I just punch that in on the front, and I’m building equipment in no time. I usually tin wires at around 400, which it reaches even faster.
If you’re looking for a cost effective and reliable soldering iron for general use, I can personally say that this is a great product to have. You can see mine below – it’s a little beaten up, but works as good as the day I got it. Hakko is a recognized name, and has been in the business for a long time. If you buy one of their products, it will keep you soldering for years to come.
